Some questions and answers

Did you watch TV more when you were a child?

To be honest, I should say no. But it doesn’t mean I was not interested in watching TV. The problem was that there were not as many TV channels as we have now and there were not as many programs as those of today. Those who are the same age as me now understand what I mean. Everyday there was a 1-hour TV program for children and there were only two channels. Although we were a lot passionate about cartoons, we had to wait till the following day to see some new ones.

Do you think TV is good for children? Why?

Yes and no. I should say watching TV is a mixed blessing. I mean it can be good in some ways but harmful in some other ways. Suppose a child who gets some useful information from a program on TV; sometimes for those children who learn visually it can be a great teacher. However, some experts believe children are bombarded with lots of information that cannot be processed appropriately and they have to accept things as they are without having time to think about the reality of those concepts in the real world, so they will not develop a critical view to the world around them.

Is there a difference in water consumption in urban and rural areas?

I should shout a big yes. As far as the consumption pattern is concerned,I guess urban dwellers consume too much water unnecessarily to wash their cars, take a shower and to keep the streets clean. Unfortunately this water for example in Tehran is drinking water for which lots of energy is already spent, energy to pump it through the pipes, to purify that before usage. However, in rural areas most of the water is consumed to irrigate the lands, to water the gardens whose effectiveness is more felt in our life since they will be products that all people will use.
